Who are we?

Hillside Cottage is owned by Jen and Richard Bousfield,  we are both from Lancashire originally and spent a lot of time in the Lake District growing up. Over the years we have spent loads of time in the Lakes and owning a property here was a dream realised back in 2019.

We love Eskdale, it is a little out of the way but once you're here it is so worth the journey. The locals are friendly and welcoming. The pubs are great, and again welcoming. We are keen walkers and are well on the way to completing the 214 Wainwrights. Hillside Cottage is a great base for climbing all the local fells. You can walk from the door or take the car.

We have brought our kids along for the journey and as they have grown up they have been able to share the fun we have when staying in this great place. More recently we have welcomed our two amazing springer spaniels to the family. Doris and Mabel also love it here and if asked they will enthusiastically recommend a stay here!
